View to the stop curve at the lower floor of Schottentor. As we can see: There is only one track - for five lines. Behind the stop is one additional track for overtakings and that's it! There are no possibilities for parking a tram or something like this (same as on the upper floor).
In the background of picture, a line of pillars can be seen in the pedestrial underpass below Ringstraße. These pillars have been put there in way that the tram tracks could have followed them towards the inner city. Before the subway was built, there were ideas to use tram lines in tunnels for public transport in the inner city. One of the starting points for these lines would have been Schottentor.
